Why are book reviews important to authors?

October 2, 2018

You will often see authors ask readers to rate and review their books on sites such as Goodreads, Amazon and Bookbub.

You've bought the damn book, why are they now asking you to go to the trouble of reviewing it?

There are two main reasons.

The most important, is so other readers can see make a more informed decision on whether a book is for them or not.

And secondly, a lot of authors, like myself, are independents. They don't have big publishing houses behind them with huge marketing budgets. Ratings and reviews improve the ranking and visibility of their books on the main selling platforms like Amazon and the reader discussion platforms such as Goodreads.

So when you get to the end of a book, please click the little rating request. Share the love. 💕
